BIG, LONG AND TIRED!

ROUND TOP ANTIQUES SHOWS ARE BIG!
THE COMBINED SHOWS ARE LONG ALMOST THREE WEEKS LONG FROM START TO FINISH.
SOME OUT OF STATE DEALERS,
MANY FROM CALIFORNIA FLY HOME BETWEEN SHOW OPENINGS.
OUR PRESENCE HERE IS ONLY FOR 9 DAYS AND WITH 3 DAYS LEFT TO GO I'M TIRED
MY BLOG EDITOR HAS BEEN SO TIRED AT END OF DAY THAT WE HAVE BEEN BLOGGING WITH NO EDITING.
NOT THAT SOME HAVE NOT NOTICED!

TEXAS RENDEZVOUS

1300 MILES
2 1/2 DAYS
WE HAVE ARRIVED IN TEXAS AT MARBURGER FARMS
UNLOADED TRUCK AS HAVE MANY OTHERS




NOW IT IS DECIDING WHERE TO PUT WHAT IN THE BOOTH



DEALERS FROM MAINE TO CALIFORNIA HAVE TRAVELED TO ROUNDTOP TEXAS FOR THE  HUGE SPRING  RENDEZVOUS, MANY HUNDREDS OF LARGE RENTAL TRUCKS,BOX TRUCKS, AND VANS STUFFED TO THE POINT OF BURSTING WITH EVERYTHING IMAGINABLE PLUS A FEW ITEMS THAT DEFY IMAGINATION.

THOUSANDS OF PURVEYORS OF GOODS, PLUS COLLECTORS, CURIOSITY SEEKERS, CHARACTERS  OF EVERY SIZE, SORT AND DISPOSITION ARE ARRIVING DAILY.





THE WEATHER IS GREAT AND
TEXAS WILD FLOWERS ARE BLOOMING EVERYWHERE. 

HOPING TO DO MANY POSTS THIS WEEK , TIME WILL TELL IF THIS WILL COME TO PASS.

AS I WANDER FROM ONE ANTIQUE SHOW TO THE NEXT;

AS I HUNT AND GATHER INTERESTING, INVIGORATING, AND INSPIRATIONAL, ITEMS;
AS I HARVEST  LIFE'S MEMORIES;
AS I DO THESE THINGS,
MUCH MORE TIME IS SPENT DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD HOUR AFTER HOUR TENS OF THOUSANDS OF MILES YEAR AFTER YEAR.


YET EVERY TIME I TELL SOMEONE I'M OFF TO NEW YORK, TEXAS, NASHVILLE, OR SOMEWHERE IN NEW ENGLAND
I'M TOLD, "WHAT FUN!"
WELL, I MUST HAVE TAKEN THE WRONG ROAD!

SO, WHILE THERE ARE GREAT MOMENTS TO BE ENCOUNTERED,
THERE ARE ALSO LONG SPACES IN BETWEEN.

FAITH AND HOPE

WHATS IT WORTH?
IF I HAD $5 FOR EVERY TIME I'VE HEARD THAT, I WOULD HAVE A PILE OF PAPER



AND, UNLESS ONE HAS A FONDNESS FOR CRUMPLED  PAPER, I WOULD HAVE VIRTUALLY NOTHING.
IT'S ONLY BECAUSE WE HAVE FAITH THAT SOMEONE WILL GIVE US
"SOMETHING (goods and services) FOR NOTHING (money)".
IT IS THIS FAITH THAT ALLOWS US TO BUY AND SELL.

BUT, WHAT IS IT THAT WE BUY  AND SELL?
IF A PERSON HAS SOMETHING THAT THEY WANT OT SELL  AND KNOWS OF NO ONE THAT HAS INTEREST IN IT, IT'S WORTHLESS.





WHATEVER IT IS, IT IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT A BUYER.
THE REAL QUESTION IS, WHAT IS IT WORTH TO YOU?
IF THIS IS ONLY WORTH $10 TO MY NEIGHBOR DOES THAT MEAN IT IS ONLY WORTH $10 TO YOU OR ME?
THE VALUE OF ANYTHING VARIES FROM ONE PERSON TO ANOTHER.
MY HOPE IS THAT WHEN I BUY SOMETHING FOR RESALE I CAN FIND SOMEONE THAT VALUES IT MORE THAN THE PERSON I BOUGHT IT FROM.
I ALSO HOPE THAT SOMEONE WILL VALUE IT MORE THAN I DO.
IF THEY FIND THE WORTH TO ONLY BE THE SAME AS I PERCEIVE IT TO BE, THEN
WHY WOULD I SELL IT?
WHY WOULD THEY BUY IT?
ONE PERSON HAS TO VALUE IT MORE THAN THE OTHER PERSON.

WHAT'S  IT WORTH AND TO WHO?


THE VALUE OF AN ITEM VARIES FROM PERSON TO PERSON DEPENDING ON THEIR PERCEPTION.



CASH IS WORTHLESS OTHER THAN FOR BUYING SOMETHING THAT YOU VALUE.
VALUE IS BASED ON ONES BELIEF THAT AN ARTICLE OR SERVICE IS WORTH MORE THAN THEIR CRUMPLED PAPER.

CHERISH WHAT YOU BUY.
DON'T JUST BUY BECAUSE IT WAS A "GOOD DEAL"
